I brought my impossible to please mother here for Mother's Day a few month's ago and I'm glad I did.

The meats served here always of superior quality and are exceptionally well seasoned and marinated.
Even as Koreans, we were impressed with their boneless Kalbi and their kimchee (only exception was their cucumber kimchee which were a bit sour, but I digress). Almost every dish was scrumptious.

My table's small complaint was the heat emanating from the burning coals in the middle of the table. It can get a bit uncomfortable after awhile. My solution? I used their metal covered menus to good use and shielded myself with it. Ha! Anyway, I do not recommend wearing a sweater while dining here.

The music here can be great or annoying depending on your musical taste. During our stay here, Gyu-Kaku played an hour and a half of Michael Jackson's greatest hits which was a bit too much for me. I think they needed to mix it up a little.

Other than those two little things, my whole family LOVED this restaurant. Great atmosphere, decent service, and awesome food.

Gyu-Kaku, thank you for a great Mother's Day experience.

Gyu-Kaku is a fun place where you cook your own food over a grill. You order by side dishes so you can try many different things when you go with a larger group.

They also alway seem to run late night specials on dishes and drinks. This place is a fun place to have a drinks and eat. Sometimes they get very busy and you might have to wait (Kapiolani) for a while to get a seat.

If you never tried this type of restaurant, give it a try next time.
